Lounge Room Furniture Trends

Lounge Room Furniture Trends

Over the past few years, we’ve all been spending a lot more time at home than we have ever done before, and the lounge room is often where we spend most of it.

So, if you want to revamp your space, give yourself a new view, or a fresh lease on home life, here are some lounge room furniture trends to give you some inspiration.

Timeless elegance is always on trend

Mix modern looks with those that have a classic, vintage feel. Choose new pieces, like a sofa with all the mod cons of reclining or USB ports, and mix through others with an opulent, timeless feel like an antique looking wall clock, a decanter on the bar, or quirky ornate pieces like a vintage camera.

Beauty and practicality

Style your storage spaces. While you may need them for practical purposes like storing books, devices, games, extra blankets, or more, you can turn those shelves, tables, surfaces, or storage spaces into something beautiful. Use ornaments, lamps, and photos to break up the storage repetition, conceal items in boxes or baskets, and even colour coordinate books in varying configurations to bring a more sophisticated feel to the room.

Colour Harmon

Look for a cohesive colour scheme – chose a big item like wall paint or the sofa, and link this with your other furniture and décor like cushions, throws, and wall art. You’ll first need to decide on your main, dominant colour, then select two or three secondary colours to bring in. This will give you a pleasing balance – not too over-polished, but enough to make you want to stay.

You could even be bold and use a few lively patterns or even a clashing colour combination, like teal and pink; blue and red wine; gold and navy blue. The possibilities are endless!

Timber and natural materials

Enjoying a well-earned revival are natural materials which include timber, marble, and stone. These instantly being a luxurious and cosy feel to your space, especially when you pair it with other natural fibres like fabrics, knit cushions, or earthy rugs. Mixing the finishings on furniture and decor can give extra dimension and interest to your space.

This natural look, bringing the outdoors in, is also completely on trend with the indoor plant craze, of which you can never have too many for this style!

Mirrors

One of the original design strategies is to instantly add the feeling of spaciousness and grandeur into any room. More so in smaller rooms or those with fewer mirrors, a cleverly placed reflective surface will open up and light up the room.
